About Sarah

Bio

Sarah van Zyl is a singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Durban, South Africa. She is currently based in Auckland, New Zealand. She completed her Bachelor of Music in Composition at the University of Auckland and now works as a songwriter, singing group facilitator, and performer.

Original Music

Sarah has released two EPs of original songs, ‘Ripples’ (2019) and ‘Vacant Stations’ (in collaboration with guitarist, James Howe – 2021). Her latest solo single from 2023 is ‘Penguins Crossing (Oamaru).’ Sarah’s music is available on Bandcamp and YouTube.

Services

Sarah performs all over Auckland, specialising in retro covers from the 1920s-70s, including songbook classics, rock ‘n roll, doo-wop, pop, folk, and Motown. She performs at markets, festivals, community events, rock ‘n roll hops, birthdays, and more.

She facilitates weekly singing groups for Dementia NZ for people with dementia and their caregivers to come together in the joy and healing of music and singing.
