The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes

The premise of the NZ show Restaurant That Makes Mistakes is as follows: Eight volunteers living with dementia open a restaurant under the guidance of top chef Ben Bayly. Can they work together to ensure the grand opening is a success?

In 2022 and 2023, I facilitated a weekly singing group for Dementia Auckland. One of our talented singers, Clifford Miller was one of the 8 volunteers at the Restaurant That Makes Mistakes in 2023. The show aired on TVNZ 1 and is available to watch here on TVNZ+.

In February 2023, some of our singing group were invited to eat a delicious three-course meal, and sing some songs at the restaurant, and you can see us in Episode 2. The 4-part show, “Restaurant That Makes Mistakes” is a great insight into the people and families of those living with dementia and I highly recommend a watch.

Update: The Restaurant That Makes Mistakes has won the award for best format reality series at the 2023 New Zealand Television Awards. Congratulations to all that were involved in this production.
